Destination of Independents Meetup hosts Fair Districts PA
Gerrymandering has Got to GO!
Just one day after Halloween, Meridian Party hosted Fair Districts PA to discuss the scariest issue of all: Gerrymandering. Hugh Roberts of FDPA gave a wonderful presentation explaining how politicians rig elections so they can't loose. From basic information on the way Pennsylvania's legislature draws districts, to specific ways the two legacy parties carve up towns and counties to ensure re-election, Hugh covered a wide range of issues.
The evening was a great success with members and attendees both new and old ready to learn and engage on this "wonky" but important topic. Everyone was able to sign up to get involved by helping to draft local resolutions, meeting with local legislators and hosting "postcard parties" to get friends and family involved.
